BENITO GONZALEZ
Grammy nominated Pianist Benito Gonzalez has absorbed the influences of such pianists as Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett while remaining rooted in the traditional folk music of his native Venezuela. Winner of the Great America Jazz Piano Competition and a Steinway & Sons artist, Gonzalez came to prominence in the band of saxophone legend Jackie McLean, and has been an important voice in the bands of Kenny Garrett, Pharoah Sanders. Bobby Hutcherson, Christian McBride, Nicholas Peyton, Jeff ”Tain” Watts, Buster Williams, and Antonio Sanchez.
