JASON MARSALIS

Master drummer and percussionist Jason Marsalis is the youngest of the Marsalis musical dynasty, the son of Ellis and brother of Wynton and Branford. A son of New Orleans, he carries that city’s great rhythmic tradition into all that he plays, including forays into Caribbean and Brazilian music as well as mainstream jazz, funk and fusion. He has worked in the trio of fellow New Orleans legend Marcus Roberts since 1994, leads his own ensembles, and performs with fellow percussionists Herlin Riley and Shannon Powell in the Groovemasters.
