Zaccai Curtis is a pianist of Puerto Rican and African American decent who is a key figure in a long tradition of merging the music of both cultures. He was the winner of the 2025 “Best Latin Jazz Album” for his recording “Cubop Lives”, and continues to explore the intersection of Afro Cuban and Latin music with Jazz. Both he and his brother, bassist Luques Curtis were long time members of Eddie Palmieri’s orchestra, perhaps the greatest innovator of Latin Jazz and Sala.
